Mountain Ultra 4-Person Tent

They call it a four person tent. I prefer to call it a large, luxury one person tent. It's been set up in my yard for several days, one of which included 24 hours of rain. Not a drop seeped in. I have a cot and a small lawn chair inside. And it's still roomy! Four vents, two on the 'roof' and one on each door. Perfect. If I could offer one, seemingly affordable suggestion, I'd add a velcro connection/closing half way down each door as it has only two (one at the top and one at the bottom). Still, I am very, very pleased with the purchase. I am not new to tents. My first was a Eureka 2 person Timberline (loaned it out, never saw it again). Followed this up with an LLBean 4 person version. Still have it but it can't breathe. At all. Next came an MSR Ventana 1.5 person. Still have it, still love it, but it's a lightweight, backpacking model and at 67 years old, I've become a car camper person. The Mountain Ultra ticks all of the boxes (easy to set up, factory sealed-seams, full fly, roomy, and as mentioned earlier, survives a good, all day/night Florida rainstorm). There is plenty to like about this tent:

+The overall quality is great. fabric, zippers, tent poles, corner grommets, all feel well constructed. Sealed seams for adequate waterproofing; They don't advertise a Hydrostatic head rating strangely, but I have confirmed that the rainfly is rated for 3000MM but they havn't confirmed a rating for the mesh inner/bathtub floor. Overall, I still feel this'll hold up to rain and short passing storms.

+4 Mesh corner pockets, 2 of which are designated as the mesh door stowaway pockets (for when you want the mesh door open), Plus a overhead loft and hanging hook. An adequate amount of storage area.

+4P tent has good height and Sq footage, sizeable vestibule.

-Pretty simple to setup, however you cant setup the rainfly first. If you are caught setting up the tent during a rain shower, you will have to lay out the mesh inner before setting up the rainfly resulting in a wet inner (how wet depends on how fast you can pitch the tent) The

Flaws and things to be improved upon include:

-The 2 vents on the top can only be opened/closed from the outside. A bit of a hassle to operate if it's raining as you'll have to go outside.

-There is NO footprint included. Part of the reason as to why I chose this tent was because I was under the impression that a footprint was included for a comprehensive tent package. Footprints were confirmed to be included in models prior to this year, this was reflected both by many 3rd party reviewers and the Teton…

First off: the entire process from purchase to delivery and finally setting up the tent was simple and straightforward!

The tent shipped promptly and was delivered on Sunday right when we got back from church. Even in the packaging, it felt lightweight and compact. Once opened, the bags that the tent and accessories came in felt quality and free from defects. Setting up the tent itself was straightforward - the instructions were simple and definitely helped understand the process for a first time camper, but even without them the design will make it a no-brainer!

My wife and I love everything about this tent. It’s spacious enough for us and our two young children. The amount of mesh will come in handy for these Texas summers, the rain fly covers the ENTIRE tent down to the ground, and the two entrances are fantastic. I can go on and on about how lovely this tent is!
