How to Celebrate National Play Outside Day

Outdoor play has great benefits for your body, mind, and life. There is evidence to show that being outside lowers stress, encourages physical activity, and can increase life expectancy. It can even help you sleep better and improve your mood!

Getting outside to play doesn’t have to take a bunch of planning. It just takes you getting out there. Here are some ideas for getting outside this Play Outside Day:

Go for a picnic

Grab your basket and Highline Blanket and snack out in the wild. A picnic is a great way to get some fresh air, enjoy your surroundings and bond with someone if you're picnicking with others!

Get a group outside for a day playing a sport

Frisbee, baseball, playing catch, racing, biking, or any other sport or activity you can think of will do. There are so many possibilities – Pick one you like and send the group text!

Take a weekend camping trip

Pack up the essentials, grab a jacket, your Mountain Ultra Tent, and a sleeping bag or Leef Mummy Bag and hit the road. Find a spot, set up the site and enjoy a weekend outside.

Go for a walk, run, or hike

Find somewhere new or go somewhere tried and true. Either way, just get your body moving.

Birdwatching

If you’ve never tried it, you should! Find somewhere pretty, grab some binoculars if you want a better look and see how many types of birds you can see. You’d be amazed at how much you’ll find when you are actually looking!

Getting outside can be done right where you live or by traveling near or far. Whatever your style, have fun while you do it. And if you need gear, we’ve got you covered!
