Vista 2-Person Quick Tent

I bought this tent recently, but it arrived damaged. The center hub was cracked. I contacted Teton and, since I was within the return window, I received a full refund. The customer service representative was great and wrote very friendly emails. I had to jump through a few minor hoops, but nothing outrageous. I think my experience speaks well of Teton Gear's customer service, so if you buy a Teton product, you can be assured their customer service will be there should you need it.

This is one of many tents that I have purchased through the years of camping from various manufacturers. But the Vista-1 is the most versatile and durable tent I've ever owned. I must utilize a CPAP machine to sleep and the tent gear loft holds the machine perfectly above me. I keep the cot, a table, and chair in the truck. The Vista-1, a sleeping pad, pillow and sleeping bag stay in a dry bag ready to go.

I purchased the Outfitter XXL set that included the cot, tent, pad, and elite fly in 2019/2020. I think I gave a 5-star rating at the time. This is an update after 5 years. I’ve use the gear approximately 5 times per year, 2-3 nights each.

I don’t know whether my pad is larger than expected but the first time I used the set the pressure of the pad against the tent walls was so high that the netting tore. Teton Sports quickly sent a replacement. (Sadly, it was a different color which also meant it was a slightly different configuration so my elite fly hasn’t fit properly. I never contacted them, so they aren’t responsible for not offering a solution.) After that, I kept the pad between the cot and tent rather than inside the tent for several years. I got to camp last year to discover I only had the standard fly and rain was expected so the pad moved back into the tent. The tent mesh promptly began to tear. 😢

I love how quickly I can set up and tear down the tent. At this point, though, the tent pole joints are not as sturdy as they once were so I have to fiddle with them to get them to extend and fold. I’have had the expansion hub collapse even when locked in the middle of the night with no/minimal wind a few times, too.

The canvas on the cot has stretched so it’s definitely harder to get out of (especially in the middle of the night!) and I’ve had to replace one nut. That seems pretty reasonable in my opinion.

I like the tent, but without a tarp it is a fair weather tent.

I don't like the fact that you should put the cot under the tent, as this means, it gets damp and wet in rain. The elite rain fly velcro closes but still lets water in a corners.

An extra tarp is also required in rain as there is no real vestibule.

I have a bad hip, so I put a narrow air mattress in center cot sag so it is easier to get out.

If you get past the above, it's a great little tent, extremely easy to set up and take down. You can store small things under if you use it on a cot.

There is a small net in ceiling I found using a small bag to hold stuff works best as otherwise my glasses, flashlight etc fall off mesh when rolling around at night.

I'm 5'6", I wouldn't want to be much taller if your a back sleeper.

It works perfect for me when I car camp.
