As a self proclaimed adventure traveler, taking photos and sharing them with family and friends is important to me. Instagram has quickly become my favorite social network to share my adventures on. But without people to follow, it wouldn't be any fun. Throughout the time my time on Instagram, I have curated quite a list of adventurous people to follow as they hike, climb, travel, ski and photograph their way around the world. While I would love to give a shout out to everyone I follow, I decided to be a bit more practical, and narrow it down to ten. So without further ado, here are my top 10 picks in no particular order, enjoy!
I was first introduced to Brendan Leonard when he was working for the Summit For Someone program a few years ago. Since then, Brendan has launched Semi-Rad, and an awesome career of writing about stuff that I care about, usually with some humor to boot. Brendan has ventured to the Dolomites, lived out of a car for multiple years, and that’s only the start. If you are up for a good laugh, and lots of adventure, you will not be disappointed here.
I can’t recall how I stumbled across @Thejourneynotes, but I feel like I have been following her forever. Jen is a brand designer that has been documenting her awesome travels for quite a while. From Iceland to Patagonia and beyond, Jen seems to have an insatiable appetite for the open road. Follow her if you are looking for travel inspiration or just want to live vicariously through her adventures.
One part explorer, one part photographer, Chris Burkard is constantly moving around, telling a story through his photographs. Chris has shared photos from beautiful and remote places around the world capturing the spirit of adventure. If you love seeing photos of living a rugged life in the mountains for the sake of documenting a world of adventure, then check out Chris Burkard.
Why do I think Katie is cool and worth following? Well let me tell you. She spent a year living in a bright yellow van, while she travelled the country and climbed a lot, she likes bourbon,
5) @Brookegaynes
I don’t think I know anyone that spends any more time in the snow than Brooke Gaynes. Her collection of photos is proof of her passion for skiing, her husband, new baby boy, and their dog. If you are looking to see more snow if your feed, it would be in your best interest to follow Brooke. But snow isn’t all she is about, you can also catch her our rock climbing, or on her mountain bike as well.
I have been a big fan of Dustin’s work for quite some time, so it only made sense to check out what he was sharing on Instagram. Dustin is a landscape and astrophotographer with a keen eye for beautiful combinations of landscapes and the night sky.
Matthew Karsten is a world traveling nomad that shares his journeys through Instagram and his blog expertvagabond.com. I follow Expertvagabond for beautiful photos of places like Iceland, Italy, Israel and more. Matthew’s Instagram feed is a bevy of colorful travel photos sure to brighten anyone’s day.
8) @Jasongebauerphotography
In addition to being a close friend, Jason Gebauer is also a great photographer, and is telling a wonderful story through his images on Instagram. Jason along with his girlfriend Heather, and her dog Sonic Boom travel throughout Colorado and Utah sharing beautiful views and great climbs.
Elia is a globetrotting landscape and travel photographer with a lot of cool toys. He is also one of my inspirations for traveling to Iceland. Elia has shared some of the most beautiful photos from amazing places around the world with no apparent slowdown on the horizon.
10) @Codyslr
Cody isn’t kidding in his description when he mentions that he is a “Man of few words” His posts are straight and to the point, just beautiful photos of wild spaces and adventurous places, sometimes shot of film. There you have it! My top ten picks for adventure travel Instagram accounts to follow. I encourage you to check each of them out and interact with all of these wonderful adventures.
